A Caribbean musical cruise from descarga latina to reggaelove.

Rodry-Go!, a.k.a. Rodrigo Rodriguez Puerta, is the (Cartagena) Colombian soul of Mercadonegro, the leading international Salsa orchestra that he found in Switzerland in 2001, with Armando Miranda, Cesar Correa and producer Al Gabriel.

During these years, he has participated as singer and percussionist with Mercadonegro to hundreds of international concerts (please, see video link, courtesy “Festival Latinoamericando Milan”) with the brightest stars of Salsa and Latin Jazz. In 2001 he was at “Pavarotti & Friends” playingwith the legendary Queen of Salsa, Mrs. Celia Cruz, then he played with stars like Cheo Feliciano, Josè Aalberto “‘El Canario”’, Richie Ray, Tito Nieves, Ray Sepulveda, Albita Rodriguez, Dave Valentin, Chico Freeman, Giovanni Hidalgo, Alfredo De La Fe, Los Hermanos Moreno, and many other stars of the Salsa & Latin Jazz world. He has also shared the scene with artists like George Benson, Carlos Santana, Anastacia, Barry White, Deep Purple, Kool and the Gang, Tom Jones, among others.The author and musician in studio.

Remarkable has been his activity during the recording of the two first Mercadonegro’s albums, “Bailalo!” and “Salsa Pa’l Mundo Entero” the latter remembered for songs like “La Bendición”, “Llegó la hora”, “Yo soy el son”, “La malanga”, but also for its original cover, representing an elegant and trendy Swiss watch, with the names on of the most important towns of the world. As well, he is also remembered and appreciated for his participation in recordings with Italian artists under the trusteeship of Eros Ramazzotti and with musicians of Laura Pausini’s band, and in several projects of Latin, Jazz, Disco, Pop, Rap music in many European countries. The music of Rodry-Go! is an irresistible and original Caribbean reggaeton, with a heavy and very rhythmic side, known as descarga latina (with tracks like “La melaza”, “Dale saoko”, “Comenzó el party”, “Pump it up!”, “Hands Up!”), followed by a surprisingly romantic and passionate side, called reggaelove, starting with the reggaeton-cumbia version of Mercadonegro – and his own – salsa masterpiece, the song “Regresaré”, then following with “Solo por ella”, “La dueña de mi Corazon” (reggae cha), “Pa’las mujeres” (reggae vallenato), and the heart touching bachata” El primer amor” with the participation of the female voice of Colombian singer Gloria Velandia: thanks to these romantic tunes, Rodry-Go! Can rightfully be described as the founder of the reggaelove style.

The album “Mr.Reggae & Roll” is enriched by two irresistible tropical tracks, the merengue-ton “Menéalo” and “Amor sincero”, which are sure radio and dance hits, and, naturally, by Rodry-Go!’s salsa trademark: a tremendous salsa with reggaeton, entitled “descargaton”, plus, as bonus track, the famous salsa, “Regresaré”, together with his Mercadonegro band.

All the songs are written, arranged and produced by Rodry-Go! Himself, with the participation to the recording and the production of Mercadonegro’s hard core, including, Cesar Correa, Armando Miranda, Robert Marcano, Amik Guerra, under the direction of Latin music producer Al Gabriel and sound engineer José Mendoza, for Bibomusic Inc.

BIBOMUSIC announces that the Colombian Salsa star Rodrigo Rodriguez, singer and timbalist of MERCADONEGRO Orchestra, has just finished the recordings of his second solo tropical and urban album with his alias name of RODRY GO!

The new album’s title is CON CLASE, and it will bring exciting electric waves to the lovers of all kind of Latin music, from Reggaeton to Merengue, from Bachata, to Vallenato, including Latin dance and, obviously a “Tremenda Rumba” for the Salseros.

The album, which follows the first CD RODRY GO! Mr. Reggae & Roll (BIBOMUSIC 2006) will be presented and released officially on 2010. It hosts several guest stars, like the members of MERCADONEGRO and the legendary Dominican singer José Alberto “El Canario”.
